UNCROWDED SEASON IS ON NOW!
After one of the best "peak seasons" in memory, with 7 months of almost non-stop surf, the "un-crowded season" usually kicks in from December to March. Lots of rights without the crowds. Many frequent visitors actually prefer "off season", despite the rain and humidity. And sometimes both sides of the island can be glassy at sunrise for a few hours each day.
All you need is board shorts, sun block and Indo Surf & Lingo to guide the way! All Bali's surf spots are listed in our exclusive Bali Wave Size Prediction Chart, making it easy for you to plan where to surf each day!

Surf & Weather Prediction from December to March - November saw the humid monsoon season start to brew. But there were still offshore winds on either coast 90% of the time, with waves 3 to 5 foot average (head-high sets many days). Solid 8 to 10 foot cyclone swells usually start from December, and can strike any time until the end of March. Hot and humid days, with rain brewing at night, until January and February see peak rainy season with average 2 inches a day. But there will still be some perfect sunny days, with great surf and smaller crowds, until next year's peak season starts again from April 2012. So book your flights now, and get ready to surf your brains out in Indo!
Surf Seasons: Bali is renowned for always having a 4 foot wave somewhere on the island. All year you can be guaranteed head high surf most days, with an 8 to 10 foot swell pumping through every week or two. Starting in April the famous lefts on the west coast enjoy offshore sunny perfection through till the end of October. This is considered the best time of year for guaranteed surf and sunshine. The biggest swells usually hit from June to September. November and December see winds start to swing, with less consistent variable conditions until January when the monsoon winds and swells set in until the end of March.
No matter what time of year you go, the waves are always surfable, and it's always offshore on one side of the island. The "worst month" in Bali can still be better than "the best month" back home. April, May and June see the least crowded quality surf, July and August see peak crowd and swells, and September still pumps. November and December are usually the least active months, and then the east coast rights pump from January to March when it rains a lot which keeps crowds down. And remember there are usually glassy early mornings on both sides of the island, offering uncrowded waves to the early risers among us. There really isn't an "off season" because Bali is always going off!
